Getting home from co-hosting ROOTED this evening, a Black Sacred Collective.

Rather than do more, we did less tonight, to celebrate. Left more space to just be.

Then, surprise: how sweet, a bouquet of flowers ❤️

It's been lovely to hold space with all who hold space.

My Spirit is Rooted, indeed.

For those keeping watch on hurricane Melissa as it travels through Jamaica, a friend compiled or found this list of live footage cameras. 🇯🇲

When you have an evening meeting on Zoom, it's important to bring dinner in order to nourish yourself.

I've neglected the garden recently. I went by to water it, expecting the worst. It's hot outside, as we are in second summer. Despite my lack of weeding, watering and care, many plants are still here. I'm amazed by the resiliency of Texas Sage, a native plant.

Sage wisdom, indeed.

Love is...when the NDN Aunties quietly gift you beaded earrings they made, just because. 😍🤩😍

Community medicine, for sure.

I watched The Sound of Music at The Paramount Theatre in Austin. (It was my mom's favorite movie.)

I love and hate that it's such a timeless classic.

Crowdsourcing: Mondays in Austin

I love happiness management. Rather than focusing on reducing stress or anger, I practice elevating my happiness.

I'm off from work Monday, but many places, activities, and restaurants are closed.

What are some places that cultivate joy on Monday (day or night)?

The sewing lesson.

An exhausting joy ride to Walgreens just a few minutes down the road to buy batteries for the sewing lamp you explained would make it easier to see handstitch work.

A lesson on using a sewing machine. It's easy peasy, and worth it to customize things for your home.

Second float of the season. It's always chaotic getting yourselves on to the water, but once you're in, you just let go and flow.

Today/this week I'm sitting with the value of EQUITY, thinking about what I think it means, and thinking about what actions I can take to live out the concept of equity in a more meaningful way.

Supporting local food vendors is something I don't do enough of.

Led a laughter Yoga meditation this morning.

Spent time this afternoon in East Austin attending an art show, Joy is a Revolution, by artist and author Justin Shells/SoCurious. It was a vibe!

There were art suplies.

So I created a thing. 🙂

Wow. Time flies.

Tonight we finished our last session of the Junior League of Austin / Leadership Austin's Leadership Bootcamp.

Skill building, team work, and lessons shared with other members about difficult conversations, leveling up, and innovation.

Empowered women empower women, indeed.

Enjoyed some fresh juice at home, a takeaway from the @allgoqpoc recent smoothie workshop. (We got to take some ingredients home and we're encouraged to blend drinks at home), so I put my under used Ninja and strainer to work!

Caring for myself is community care.

"Look up, do you see the sunlight?"

The song "look up" by Joy Oladokun is such a balm for the soul.

It inspired me to capture a photo as I enjoyed the sunlight over the old airport hanger in Mueller Lake Park in East Austin, TX, illuminating the day.

Look up.

Oh my goodness. I saw the stage production of AMAGING at the Vortex theatre in Austin, a collection of five people in the Queer Qmmunity in Austin, ages 65 -91. It filled my spirit! We laughed, we cried (in a good way), we laughed some more.

(Get the VIP ticket to get a goodie bag and cast photo.)

Had an ecotherapy, ecotheology, we heal in community kind of morning and afternoon. Nourishing for the soul.

Grateful.
