2025 Art Summary!

Honestly I almost considered not doing it for 2025, but I changed my mind. I felt like I didn’t really have a lot of art this year, mainly cuz of school and such. But it looks like I was able to have a piece per month anyway!

The Creation of Time
Black text on a white background that reads as follows: The Creation of Time This project has been building up in a drawer for years, out of a frustration with the sheer waste of the stickers they give you in every packet of birth control pills because I always started Sunday anyway. So I kept them. And I'm thinking about the arbitrariness of time; you can start any day of the week, but it has to be an entire week that includes all the days and they're always in the same sequence no matter where in the sequence you start. You are trapped in the calendar that man has created and you are not given any option of escape. And I'm thinking about how even the most intimate of our bodily processes must be made to conform to man's schedule, and the insurance company's schedule, and our employer's schedule, and our family's schedule. So much for any "nature." The Tyranny of Time is a reflection on trying to cram myself and all the needs of living more and more tightly into schedules dictated by others. As the spiral tightens, the days crash into each other and days and even weeks are lost in the overlap. Plenty of Room in Your Schedule contains my feelings about disability and how people will look at "empty" space in your schedule and assume they can annex it with work and play and obligations, and you need those empty spaces to recover and breathe and actually they aren't empty at all; they are filled with the meat of being human and living in a body. We Are Ants in Their Machine reflects the tininess of humans inside the structures we have built to govern each other. We are crushed within our own machines, machines that we no long own or control. The mass grave is visible only from above; the people in the machine itself have no clear sightline on it. The machine itself blocks their view. Anyway, it feels amazing to finally do this project! I guess I'll go back to throwing out the stickers now.
