Maybe this is hsr's fault for being so vague, but hi3 makes it clear that permanence is more about constant change. Normal vidyadhara are reborn into new forms bc that's how it should be. The quest for eternity through the high elder is destructive and led to Dan Feng's tragic fate
Low-key how do you mention how miserable and disconnected Dan Feng felt from himself due to inheriting a face that didn't feel like his own and use that as proof to say that Dan Heng's physical appearance should never change
