Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

This decision — & other federal efforts to undermine well-established science about vaccine safety — puts everyone at risk, especially when we are currently experiencing the worst U.S. flu season in more than a decade, says IDSA President Tina Tan, MD, FIDSA, FPIDS, FAAP.

Just in the last week, we’ve seen:

RFK Jr. cancel a vital meeting for deciding the next flu vaccine.

Elon Musk joke about mistakenly cancelling Ebola prevention programs.

The Trump Admin scrambling to rehire bird flu experts THEY fired.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

I'm encouraged to see IDSA and the HIV Medicine Association speaking up - all healthcare organizations should be alarmed by these actions and also speak up
The removal of #HIV- and #LGBTQ-related resources from the websites of CDC and other health agencies is deeply concerning.

Access to this information is crucial for ID and HIV health care professionals.

Now the government thinks it is acceptable to remove public health information from the CDC website? STI guidelines - gone. Information about health disparities in LGBTQ populations? Gone.

This is not acceptable.
