Perfect weekend away having a little staycation with my lifepartner and her kids. She made breakfast and I just danced to 90s hip hop and r&b. We watched all the shows, ate good food, nibbled on gummies, sipped wine, basketball game, picked up tajin drenched mango at el burrito Mercado + chilled.

One more day and my busiest season of the year is over. I'm so burnt out.
And. I'm so so grateful for the amazing work I got to do these last few months. Here is one of my favorites from a local shop.
Seven more sessions to edit and I'll need to celebrate.

Dear children of dead parents,
What sign do you feel like your parent sends you? Mine is ginkgo leaves and fire flies.

He's 14. I'm 43. We both saw northern lights for the first time ever last night. Right over our house. When we bought this house in 2012 I had a vision that light was bursting out from the top. It looked just like this.

Everyone needs their fall family photos right now.
I’m working as fast as I can.
And - documenting my family in the fall too (my oldest helping me to document this special milestone - first time one of my kids has appendicitis! 🎉🥳🍾 (so perfectly timed with the busiest 📸 time of the year)

Just a girl taking selfies in the baño late this past Monday at the ER - my kid had appendicitis. Since he’s 18 now I just sit there, bystander. They ain’t askin’ mama anymore since baby boy turned into a grown man last August. They shut the curtain between us and asked HIM if he wanted surgery.

If you’re in the DDC you’ll get it. RIP dad, I forgive you for having your funeral on my birthday 15 years ago.

When you style your new cut and realize you are literally Tim the Toolman Taylor’s Wife.

Just realized that this is why I love a front door photo and suggest doing one at every Home Days session.
Clothing optional.
Toys scattered about is best. This was where my dad came home to when we visited Chicago. Tia’s house. This was taken in 1985. Me, dad and baby Gilly.

Today I turned 43. First #43epiphany of this new era:
I don’t have to follow rules for dressing my age. Second one is I don’t do lines anymore. I will not wait in a line. Not at this age. No thank you.

Slowly figuring out my style as a mid-sized middle-aged mamacita

Just some good ol’ fashioned fun with my kid who just wanted to take his mama for a wagon ride. I don’t think I’ve been in a wagon for 35 years at least. I sure did not hold my horses.

The metaverse kicked me out of the club. Not sure how they thought I “violated” their community standards and rules or whatever but they erased me off the insta and fb. And I’m settling with the fact that it’s probs gone forever. So what do we do? We go on living + find new connections here. Hola.

My job is to blend in to the background while your family goes about their regular day, documenting the sweetest details and interactions that can easily be overlooked in the hustle and bustle of raising little ones. And I love sneaking in a self portrait whenever I can.
