It’s exactly 15 years since I greeted an overcast dawn at Stonehenge, on 19 December 2010. The deep snow made it such a special experience. A private trip is the way to see Stonehenge, wandering freely among the megaliths & free from the endless circling crowds of tourists during opening hours.

I took these pictures of Woodhenge near the solstice 15 years ago. The site, 2 miles from Stonehenge, dates from around 2000 BCE & consisted of concentric rings of huge wooden posts (now marked by concrete) surrounded by a ditch & bank. A crouched inhumation of a child was found in the centre. ☀️❄️
