The cost of obtaining copies of probate grants, wills or letters of administration will increase from £1.50 to £16 per copy on 17th November 2025.
This huge increase in cost will no doubt have a significant impact on FH research. If possible order any wills you want in advance of this increase.

Ministry of Justice response to the consultation to digitise all post-1858 wills and destroy the originals, has been published with the announcement they will NOT proceed with the controversial proposals.
