A kind of motion control that works off of controller rotation and movement.
Not quite as precise as the Wii remote and needs a button to recenter every now and then, but it gets the job done.
Both PlayStation and Switch use it.

But a straight rerelease without means to use something resembling the proper controls isn’t the way…but maybe there was no other choice

The "control" aspect was very apparent for me when my folks made a big effort to reduce my playtime throughout much of my mid elementary to late middle school years...and then I just took control back by cheating on the rules in secret. 😅
