One of the amazing things about Interactive fiction is the custom protagonist. I know some games lend themselves to set protagonists, but I much prefer crafting my character, their personality, and backstory. I think that's one reason I've switched to playing predominantly text based games.

I just read Crown of Exile, an IF on itch. Omg, it is so good! The author does such a good job of writing the soft romance moments. It's still a WIP, but I am so excited to see the finished product.

So, I finally got Astarion to like me. I think my last PT had the bug where his approval didn't go up. Anywho, got to his really important romance scene, and this happened. Zoom in on the eyes.
