Everything is global politics.

I think Tip O'Neill ("All politics is local") is a little out of date, and would be horrified that MAGAs think they can force globalization back in the bottle.

I am so used to seeing that ratio reversed...

I am concerned with the ethics of stigmatization.

Also, I wish they'd listed percentages with the predispositions of various syndromes. They are generally single, low double digits, even predisposed.

65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

How to say you are young without saying you are young.

The US had pockets of pluralism since it was a handful of colonies. These mostly continued into pluralistic democracy over our first century.

And Blacks were granted the vote 100y before it was "guaranteed."

It's still not consolidated tho.
There is absolutely nothing old or consolidated about *multiracial, pluralistic democracy* in America. It only started 60 years ago.

And the conflict over whether or not it should be allowed to endure and prosper has been the central fault line in U.S. politics ever since.

I watched every episode of this show and have no idea who she is. We’ve got to insist on actors reaching a certain level of fame before they have their diva insanity phase.

This made me wonder about the etymology of quack.

Just in the past 3 days, I happened to speak to an academic, a US politician and a former Biden official who had all received death threats and severe harassment from the MAGA movement. It's now a common experience. I am sorry MTG has to live through the same thing, but she can't be surprised
MTG: “.. “I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. .. The man I supported and helped get elected.”

I disagree with Krugman that #cryptocurrency is speculation or crime. It's also experimental, like any unregulated sandbox.

But I do believe it's likely to die under the weight of foolishness, exploitation and abuse before the experiments can carry it forward.
Paul Krugman only reads blogs and that is why he, unlike everyone else who has been in punditry for decades, has never lost his mind
If you need me, tap me on the shoulder. I’ll be happily working all day listening to this on a loop.

my wife worked for a catholic hospital and gave birth to our last child there and _their own obstetrician_ told her to get her tubes tied because it was _medically necessary_ and the hospital wouldn't allow it to be done with her c-section because it was against their beliefs, even though we're jews
Many people dismissed the announcement Catholic hospitals will ban gender-affirming care nationwide under the assumption that there will be other options. In reality, Catholic hospitals make up as much 46% of options in some states. This map is 2020, prior to Trump’s assault on safety net hospitals.
