My charade is the event of the season
Yu Darvish made the 4th Padres postseason start by a pitcher age 39+ (David Wells 1x, Woody Williams 2x). They took the loss in each game.

Wandy Peralta had his 50th scoreless outing of 2025. That gives the Padres 5 pitchers with 50+ scoreless games (Morejon, Estrada, Adam, Suarez, Peralta). They're the 7th team with 5 pitchers with 50+ scoreless outings. No team's had 6.

With 3 hits vs. the Rox, Luis Arraez is batting .285, 20 points behind NL leader Trea Turner, who is on the IL. If Turner doesn't return before the playoffs, .305 is Arraez's target. Give him 4 ABs a game over the last 15 games, and he'd have to go 30-for-60 to catch Turner.

When the grid gives you a triple Gwynn opportunity, go for it.

All 3 Padres starting OFs homered tonight (Gavin Sheets, Ramon Laureano, Fernando Tatis Jr.). The last time each SD starting OF homered in a game? Aug. 7, 2018 (Hunter Renfroe, Manuel Margot, Franmil Reyes)

The Padres should play at home every Aug. 6 and celebrate it as Tony Gwynn Day, with players wearing No. 19.

With his 362nd home run, Manny Machado moved past Joe DiMaggio on the career chart. Solo 87th. Next up: Lance Berkman, 366.

Hard to believe we're well into June, and the Padres will be facing the Dodgers for the first time in 2025. You know these guys are fired up for it.

Manny Machado is the second Padres player with seven straight seasons of double-digit HRs. Dave Winfield was first, 1974-80. Machado also moved into a tie for 97th all-time in MLB with 352 homers.

In 57 seasons, the Padres have won 29 games with a 1-0 score in which the only run came via HR. Last before today: April 19, 2023 vs. ATL (Juan Soto). Last on road before today: Aug. 27, 2016 at MIA (Ryan Schimpf)

Fernando Tatis Jr. moved into the Padres career top 10 in stolen bases, matching Garry Templeton with 101. Tatis, Tony Gwynn and Dave Winfield are the only players with 100 steals and HRs with the Padres.

Remembering longtime Padres coach Rob Picciolo today on what would have been his 72nd birthday. His nickname "Peach" couldn't have been more apt. Tremendous human being.

WFL legend Rocky Long is 75 today. New Mexico has had 2 winning seasons in 16 since he was its coach. SDSU has been going mostly in reverse since his last season in 2019.

RIP to Rocky Colavito. He played 35 games with the PCL Padres in 1956 before becoming a feared MLB slugger. Colavito hit 12 HRs and slashed .368/.451/.729 with San Diego.

Might as well begin here with a Tony Gwynn stat. Through 1997, he was 3-for-12 vs. Kevin Brown. Teammate in '98. Then, after that year of close study, Gwynn went 8-for-14 vs. Brown from 1999-2001.
