🍕 Fort is a deck builder with fantastic graphic design and a fun theme. It reminds me of the endless days of summer break as a child of the 80s! In Fort you collect stuff (toys and pizza!) and upgrade your fort while you gather friends, sometimes stealing them from someone else’s yard!

🍕 Fort is a deck builder with fantastic graphic design and a fun theme. It reminds me of the endless days of summer break as a child of the 80s! In Fort you collect stuff (toys and pizza!) and upgrade your fort while you gather friends, sometimes stealing them from someone else’s yard!

I have chosen the Praying Mantis from the delightful game, Meadow from @rebelstudio.eu . The praying mantis looks so sweet and innocent on this card, but they are deadly hunters!

🌍 Earth is the perfect blend of beautiful and thinky! I thought it was perfect, but then I figured that an expansion might make it even better, and it did! The Abundance expansion adds just enough that it improves the game, but not so much that it lengthens play time or makes things convoluted.

🍺 Other than chess, I didn’t have a lot in my collection with a checkerboard pattern. I decided to go with Taverns of Tiefenthal as the customers have checkered tablecloths!

🦒 Giraffes are my favourite animal so I was so excited to get Kavango to the table and realize that I could both play as a giraffe AND put a giraffe in my tableau! ❤️

🪶Wingspan is a modern classic! I still love the elegant gameplay but, most of all, I love reading about the birds! Northern Cardinals are common in the area where I live in the winter time, so I thought this handsome fellow would be the perfect little guy to represent the colour red.

July was a fantastic month! I figured that we would have to give up on our game a day streak but we managed to play a game every day on our travels! Now that we are past the halfway point, I’m pretty determined to play a game every day in 2025!

🪷 Gentle Rain is a solo game where you lay tiles trying to match flowers. When you complete a circle, you place one of the special flower tokens. The goal is to get all of the flower tokens on the board, hopefully with tiles to spare. It plays beautifully solo but also as a chill co-op game.

🌶️ Chipotle is, of course, a fast food chain, but it’s also the name for a smoke-dried ripe jalapeño, and of this character from the 2022 game, Chili Mafia. Chili Mafia is a take-that filled set collection game.

🎲 A board game about making board games? I’m here for it! Tabletop Inc. is a worker placement game where the goal is to develop and produce board games and, hopefully, win awards for them! You even have little game boxes and the punny titles take it over the top (my favourite is Beak Size! 🤣)

Which mechanism instantly makes you suspicious of a game?
🫱🏻Dexterity games. Terrible. Thankfully, there is one exception that we really enjoy, and that’s Kluster! 🧲 Place your magnets into a ring without causing any to stick together.

🪴Planted is the ultimate in cozy vibes. It brings me back to the early days of the pandemic, hanging out at home discovering new hobbies. While I certainly wouldn’t want to go back to those times, there is something to be said for the way it forced us all to slow down and enjoy being at home!

⛳️ More river cruise games! On the top deck they have putting greens and shuffleboard. I am terrible at both. But they are perfect entries for “Play a non-board game”.

🛥️ We are on a river cruise from Bucharest to Budapest. Today we are docked in Nikopol, Bulgaria, and had a free afternoon after a morning excursion so we hung out in the lounge and got some games in. I think this counts for the “Play a Waterside Game” prompt!

🚊 We are travelling in Romania right now and yesterday had the chance to visit the Red Goblin in Bucharest! What a fantastic store! They had a great game collection as well as lots of other geek culture stuff. The staff were absolutely lovely as well. We, of course, couldn’t leave empty handed!

🚊 We are travelling in Romania right now and yesterday had the chance to visit the Red Goblin in Bucharest! What a fantastic store! They had a great game collection as well as lots of other geek culture stuff. The staff were absolutely lovely as well. We, of course, couldn’t leave empty handed!
We reached the end of June, and the halfway point of 2025, and we have played a game every day this year!
