"Oh?" A bizarrely dressed woman walks down the stairs to an exit. "And where do you think you're going, Clayre Wyndholm?" Clayre stops near the end of the stairs and looks back up. "Out, mother. Why? Is that a problem too?" "'Out'." says Ms. Wyndholm "'Out' to drink? Or maybe 'out' to pick up some boys for a change? Oh... 'Out' to play with that little skunk machinist girl I presume?" "DON'T...Don't call her that." erupts Clayre. "Temper, temper child. Those ears of yours are none the redder." Ms. Wyndholm walks further down the stairs. "Any affiliation with that rat will bring down the Wyndholm name. Her parents were a plague on this world. Their invention, had it succeeded, could've set us back hundreds of years." She reaches an angry Clayre and lifts her daughter's head to match eyes. "And I would've never become House Leader. You don't know how long it took me to get here child. A position once held solely by men is finally getting a light cast on it. And I fully intend for you to be next star in line for the runway." Clayre responds by grabbing her mother's hand. "I'm going out, mom. What I do is none of your concern." "What you do is all of my concern. What if you end up like that turquoise haired pros-" A quick sharp blow lands on Ms. Wyndholm's face. Clayre storms off as Ms. Wyndholm licks the side of her face. "Oh, what a thrill! You will be back before sundown my dear... mother always knows best." Clayre exits as Ms. Wyndholm continues laughing. END HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! I thought it'd be a good idea to introduce Clayre's mom, since she'll be a minor antagonist for the story, like Team Rocket levels of annoyance, but a big part of Clayre's story. Lady Wyndholm is manipulative, wanting nothing more than for Clayre to be a strong, beautiful Lady for the House of Wyndholm. Clayre's story will be more about control and lack thereof. All the emotional stuff will be told through her. Thank you for reading!!

So I decided to do a very nostalgic anime looking drawing of one of the main characters for a book I'm working on!
Her name is Grace, called Gracie by her best friends :D
