Picked this up at the charity shop because I liked the front cover.

I maintain the best way to tell if you'll like a book is to read the 1 star reviews: 'the kind of book that certain people will give 5 stars in order to appear erudite, well read, literate, in the know'

I think I've found a gem.

Imagine scoring in front of a stand named after your late dad. Great story.

Well played Stanno.

More direct. More energetic. More convincing. A solid first half.

The only way to make a tedious evening of marking more bearable will be a bottle of red and three points for blues. #bcfc

3 years having elapsed since leaving Russia, only now do I feel I can safely return to dill.

Small steps with the dry stuff.

For all the tension of that last ten minutes we didn't actually even make their keeper make a save.

Not 100% sure about Harris but then also not convinced Stanfield/May works as an option either.

I hope he puts a great performance in today.

'being of a less rotund and jolly girth; indeed, he is of quite a neat and gentlemanlike figure...he has a lovely tail, and sentimental Indian eyes of a hazel hue. But his mealy-mouth spoils all.'

Sometimes, Melville, it's like you're talking right to me.

A couple of reviews I've read have pointed out how adolescent Murakami can be in negative terms.

He bridges a gap between YA lit and something more challenging. I've often recommended him to older students (KS4 upwards) as his themes are so relatable for that age.

Murakami's new novel reads like it's for children
The City and Its Uncertain Walls is immersive but lacking in any complexity or nuance

Finally reading Moby Dick. I really didn't expect it to make me laugh as much as it has done. Loving it so far.
