One year w/o our Shadow went so fast and feels like forever. He was the most joyful lake dog there ever was. If heaven has water, he’s jumping in full throttle, swimming, splashing + smiling.

My sitter fren, Angela, and I woke up to a surprise. It was so windy last night that a shutter blew off the house! Neither of us barked. We just found it this morning.

Morning, frens! I’m out for some snowy fun with my sitter fren, Angela. She just took this pic of me. Mom wants to know why I don’t pose like this for her and also says I look like a cover dog (whatever that is) and that Angela could charge extra for dog photography.

We only got a couple inches of snow during the storm on Sat. and it’s a bit mushy now, but it’s still cold and wet and - whoohoo! - wonderful to me!

Pupdate: all is well. M,D+hubro have safely arrived in Johannesburg after a 15h flight. They’re 7 hours ahead of us here in NY so they’re going to bed while my sitter fren Angela + I have snowmuchfun!

M,D+hubro gave me lots of lovin’ before leaving. I had sad eyes bc I want them to know I’ll miss them, but now that they’re gone, I’m working on my “to do” list for my sitter fren, Angela. She’ll be here soon so I want to be ready. So far…treats, belly rubs, treats, play tug…

We said a little prayer for my fren, Azlan, and his family when we got his lovely card. Azlan went OTRB a little while ago and we know their hearts are hurting.

M+D+hubro are getting ready for their trip. I’m helping by staying out of the way with my new crinkly snowman. Mom says I love him so much she thinks he will have “melted” by the time they come home.

#ThrowbackThursday to last Christmas which turned out to be Shadow’s last Christmas. He unexpectedly left us 5 days later. Shadow loved Christmas. We’re grateful we got to share one final happy holiday together.

Did you know Christmas Eve is the lead in to Christmas? We had another special meal today! I got turkey+gravy+beans+peas - so yummy. Dessert was crème brûlée cheesecake a I GOT A TASTE! I really like Christmas.

My first Christmas Eve was pawsome! I got some roast beef, potatoes au gratin (cheese!), green beans and peas. No chocolate Yule log for me, but I did get a taste of a popover and our frens gave me a Santa duck. Score! I think I’m gonna really like this Christmas thing.

Happy Christmas Eve to all who celebrate. Mom+hubro did the luminaria at church again this year. It’s pretty. Dad’s been busy cooking prime rib, popovers + all sorts of other yummy things for us + our frens. I’m excited bc it smells sooo good + I’ve been told there’s some for me!
