Ky has the opportunity, in light of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell’s decision to not seek another term, to elect someone unwilling to be a foot soldier. Question is, will we, and who will our choices be, candidates-wise?

Was Today Years Old when I learned that in Canada, each province has its own political parties that are different from Canada’s federal level. Wondering how such a model would play out in the U.S. Interesting. HTTPS://lnkd.in/gF7-z_8m

Get that people are up in arms about health insurance delays, denials, holes in coverage, but the conversation needs to expand to include property and casualty. And I don’t just mean people impacted by recent natural disasters (roof damage, etc.)

#OTD (Dec 02) in the year 1766: Swedish parliament approves the Swedish Freedom of the Press Act and implements it as a ground law, thus being first in the world with freedom of speech. #OTDIH #history 🗃️ #c18th
Swedish Freedom of the Press Act
The Freedom of the Press Act is one of four Fundamental Laws of the Realm and thus forms part of the Swedish Constitution. The Act regulates matters regarding freedom of press and principle of public access to official records. The Freedom of the Press Act as well as the Fundamental Law on Freedom of Expression is one of the two "basic media acts" in Sweden. The Freedom of the Press Act is derived from the Freedom of the Press Act of 1766; the legislation is regarded as the world's first law supporting the freedom of the press and freedom of information.

Making final preparations for #Thanksgiving? Be glad you aren't hosting the Marquis de Lafayette. Last living General of the American Revolution knew how to dine! This invoice shows expenses owed to Richard Taylor who hosted the Marquis in Frankfort in 1825, totaling over $63,000 in today's money.

Imagine hackles are up over the Texas decision to back curriculum with lessons learned from the Bible. My left-leaning self is immediately concerned. Then, remembered how Sermon on the Mount was dissected in my liberal Indiana U lit course along with bawdy Chaucer tales. Seeking to understand first.
