Lazy mornings about the farm. I have chickens because I can. I am at a place where I can provide shelter and care for otherwise unwanted animals that deserve to be known as sentient beings.

Petunia was not weaned when found in a river bank den, the only survivor from the farmers raid. Today she is fat and happy living her best life.

Sheba, one of our most challenging additions, came from a case worker of a homeless man having to give up his street dog for his own journey to sobriety, shelter and health. She was understandably fearful of , well, pretty much everything. Today, 6 yrs later she is settled and confident .

Oliver was brought to us having been found under a car, alone, just weaned and extremely frightened. No other litter mates were found. He is now 12 and still nurses , his claws are extremely sharp but he is totally into it. He is deaf but that doesn’t stop him from ruling the house.

Ostara, as I named her, came to us in Spring from someone who couldn’t afford her care any longer. All of our farm animals have come to us under these circumstances. We are the lucky ones in this equation. Animals are amazing in every aspect.

Southwest Texas where the roadrunner and tumbleweed roam will forever hold home. The ocotillo and the sage after a summer rain always brought peace and serenity.
