Always an honor to buy Henry Threadgill a cup of coffee. (Also great fun to revisit the music on his new album, which I raved about when I heard it live last year.) Un-paywalled: www.nytimes.com/2023/05/28/a...

It was a blast to hear Miranda Cuckson +
@ethan_iverson
play the music of Peter Lieberson, Louise Talma and George Walker. (Iverson did his own music proud, too.) I later scoured used-CD bins to find out more about Talma in particular. Un-paywalled: www.nytimes.com/2023/06/11/a...

Didn't love Sonic Sphere; found "head tracking" in Apple Music mostly a bore. But Salonen's Ligeti is fun in Dolby Atmos! Even better: recent binaural albums of spatial-audio works by Natasha Barrett and Stockhausen (no Apple-tech required!). Un-paywalled: www.nytimes.com/2023/08/22/a...
