I like "preparation" in storytelling. Seeing a character eat before an adventure, equip armor, or focus their mind for casting magic feels so grounded.
It shows a character isn't always ready for battle and I think that's important.

I might be a bit ambitious with my writing but I want the majority of the characters in the story to feel intentional. So most NPCs are handled like background characters in a book rather than NPCs in a game if that makes sense.
