I never realized just how fortunate I was to live local to Fangamer until I became a Double Fine fan. What an absolute delight it's been to speed home from the warehouse with the poshest boxset i've ever owned since DFA. Trying to get through it, but there's so much content!

Same reason cases no longer have floppy drive bays: they stopped being actively used by the general user base.

Because the industries that used optical media the most began to push their user base towards digital licenses instead of physical ownership. Ergo, computer manufacturers saw there was no need to include them in their ever-slimming laptops or spots for them in their cases.
