It is far too hot for me to entertain camping for the next couple of months, so instead I'm just lamenting over photos of my last trip and daydreaming about the next

The first book in my list of reads in the "Bummers of History Book Club" started with The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan, a gut wrenching account of the Great American Dust Bowl that was incredibly eye opening and harrowing. If you also like being bummed out by historical events, give it a read!

Surgery went great today. The entire team from start to finish was phenomenal and made everything a breeze, all things considered.

Egregious, I say to the unnamed surgical center!

While it wasn't in my original plans to be going out for surgery to start my year, I'm grateful that I'm being given a chance to truly embrace this season of rest during my healing process.

Hoping to catch glimpses of many more moments of peaceful beauty like this one in the coming weeks.

Winter is my favorite time of year for a lot of reasons, but hiking is definitely high on the list.

These are some shots I grabbed today on a brisk eight mile hike. I wanted to go for ten, but my joints protested.
