Long ago I discovered that a painting whose eyes seemed to follow me as I admired it, a painting of a woman with fiery eyes, was actually a sentient being. Her eyes were so lonely! They were like my eyes. I stole the painting.

We forgot that we had an old life at all. There was nothing but the Trees and the People and a feeling of bliss that never went away. It was like being given paradise only to be ripped away from it. It's been... disconcerting. To say the least.
Imagine visiting somewhere, say… Japan! Or Switzerland! You’re welcomed like family, adored, showered with luxury. You establish relationships, some of them close ones. You’re happy and at peace surrounded by beautiful views and you start to forget your old life.
