THIS is the most profound, practical, wise, and articulate commentary on
what's happening and on Congress walking out two days ago. We're bombarded with a lot of useless and misinformed commentary everyday; this is worth your time.

These are the stories that remind us of our humanity.
DO YOU REMEMBER... In 1939 a Kansas Flour maker realized that women were making clothes for children with their flour sacks so they started getting different prints to give the ladies something prettier to work with.

And keep going: Medicare for All,
fix the housing crisis,
One person/one vote and rank choice voting,
affordable and improved education, ratify ERA and lgbtq+ rights, clean water & air...you know the rest; it's all self-evident 🗽
If I were to defy a court order, I'd be in jail, not building a ballroom.

Reopen government, swear in Adelita Grivala, release the Epstein Files, restore healthcare subsidies, and fund SNAP.

When politicians disrupt SNAP, they endanger 5 million older adults in the program. A huge number of people living with Alzheimer's disease or a related cause of dementia will go hungry. If you aren't angry, you aren't paying attention

When SNAP benefits run out, 'people can die,' say health experts
“People can die” from even short gaps in nutrition and food access, experts say ahead of SNAP benefits not going out in November in at least 25 states.

BREAKING: We're suing North Carolina over its congressional map that disenfranchises Black voters in the state.

The newly passed map shifts thousands of Black voters out of their communities of representation.

Food bank director: “for every meal that a food bank provides, the SNAP program provides nine. There’s no way we can meet that gap.”

We can't just keep a defensive/protective stance toward totalitarianism. We need a proactive counter narrative.
That narrative is obvious. Our youth, the Sanders/AOC folx, and Americans who aren't voting all want Progressive Politics
Please, insist on progressive leaders and progressive choices.
America Needs a Mass Movement—Now
Without one, America may sink into autocracy for decades.

I post this for several reasons:
-"Variety" has some great writing lately
-I agree, the world has lost nuance and clobbers us, a lot, which great writers do not do
-We must protect our minds from fascism, and all forces that attempt to pollute, distort, and pervert our thinking
‘Orwell: 2+2 = 5’ Review: Raoul Peck’s Documentary Highlights George Orwell’s Relevance at the Expense of His Mystery
The film is too interested in the brutality of totalitarianism to fully explore Orwell's great theme: the sinister unreality of it.

And what holds us/We the People together is integrity and bravery; -"integrity" means "holding together".
The Constitution is not self-enforcing.

The only thing holding our Republic together are our norms.

And the only thing that enforces those norms is The People.

No one is coming to save us.

It's entirely up to us.

Arizona A.G. Kris Mayes explains why she is suing Mike Johnson for not swearing Adelita Grijalva into office. "By not swearing her in he's depriving 813,000 Arizonans of representation. That's called taxation without representation. We fought a revolutionary war over that."
