A fat bureaucrat once asked, "do you make a living doing art?"
"As good of one as did Van Gogh, Gauguin, or Modigliani," replied I.

Matt Foley, (MAFO) : Visualator; mysterious maker of sensory variegations; an alchemical distillery of artistic extremes.
"Complex" refers to something that is made up of many interconnected parts, making it a challenge to analyze or understand.
It may also describe a psychological condition involving anxiety or preoccupation with a particular issue.

This is thoughtfully complex, but in what capacity?

Commonly known as Dead Man's Fingers, Xylaria Polymorpha, of the phylum known as Ascomycetes (division Mycota), is a cosmopolitan saprobic fungus characterized by elongated upright, clavate, or strap-like stromata poking up through the ground, looking a lot like dead human fingers.

Everyone knows the internet was made for posting #cat pictures.
It seems furry felines have been a staple for such a long time.
Even days are dedicated to the custom.

Well, now I am posting one.
This is a watercolor I did when I was around 7 years old.
Thanks, mom, for saving it.

Art plays a profound role in human life, serving as a mirror to human experiences, a catalyst for intellectual growth, and a bridge between individuals and societies.
It's not just decoration or entertainment—it's essential for emotional, mental, and broader cultural development.
Art's our suchness.

The old vaquero had found a cool cave and set up his kind of housekeeping. The sum of a man's life, plus knife and rifle, bedroll and bowl, odds and ends.
Was he poor?
Not in his estimation.
He had his freedom, one of the finest treasures of all.

#Art receptions are one of the few opportunities for humans to indulge in a sense of sophistication and glamour.
Dress fine. Sip a bit of wine. Nibble some cheese.
A time to look your best and be your smartest.
Few other events rival one.
Unlike most all else usually free to attend, too.

The first "moving pictures" were created by cave dwellers - long before cameras were invented.
They painted on the walls, deep in darkened holes, and those images appeared to move in the flickering firelight.
It must have been a very mystical experience when those pictures seemed to come alive.

Abstract thinking is considered a higher-order reasoning that allows one to contemplate intangible concepts not tied to concrete experiences which allows an individual to connect ideas, visualize various possibilities, and think critically about complex issues, an essential tool for problem-solving.

“I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there ’s a pair of us—don’t tell!
They ’d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!”
― Emily Dickinson

“Every great #artist is a man who has freed himself. Every man who has shown the world the way to beauty, to true culture, has been a rebel, a 'universal' without patriotism, without home, who has found his people everywhere. Sometimes the important thing is to strike out sidewise.”
― Robert Henri

Consider this the essence of my mind in motion ― a "photo" of the inside of my conceptual cranium; how my brain works; the way thoughts actually look if they could be captured somehow; a visual symphony of cognition, frozen in time; raw, untamed energy; an alchemical distillery.

"Huh, it reminds me of an ___________."

Everyone brings their own stories to the encounter.

The question is always, "What do you really see when you look deep."

If it were possible to transform my #art from food for thought into nourishing calories for starving bodies, it is something I would do in a heartbeat.

History well documents the plight of starving artists.
It is a condition we, in the arts, know all too well and have great empathy for.

There is a reason why CEOs of major corporations consider creativity a top characteristic for hiring talent.

The artist, Marcel Duchamp, once said, “The creative act is not performed by the artist alone; the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act."

Abstract art employs vibrant colors, dynamic shapes and expressive forms to convey complex concepts, abstract ideas or deep emotions, liberated from realistic portrayal.
Abstract #art ignites the imagination, encourages subjective interpretation and prioritizes creative freedom over literal imagery.
