Is there anything harder in the primary maths curriculum than trying to convince children that a rectangle does not have 4 lines of symmetry?

Feeling a bit guilty about all the to-do list bits I didn’t get round to this holiday.

Homes Under the Hammer
Die Hard
Christmas Only Connect
Doctor Who
Maltesers
Naps

Need to try harder.

My little lad was trying to use the word ambidextrous today.

Instead he said my wife was ambitrocious.

And, I very much like this new word.

This is how I’ve spent my summer.

25lbs/11.3kg lost.

Still a long way to go, but yes, I’m bragging.

Obama said that decisions he faced as POTUS were never easy decisions.

80/20 or 70/30 decisions were made by others and never reached him.

His were all 60/40 at best and 51/49 at worst.

Not the same scale at all, but similarities and why headteachering is so knackering.

Pause inspections for a year, reflect on Big Listen, consult, rewrite, and pilot. Launch in Sept 2025. Safeguarding inspections only this year.

One of my favourite things I did with my class was 30-45 minutes a week of Current Affairs.

No plan, no agenda, just ask the children what they’d seen in the news. As time went on, they bring things to share they’d seen, or fun facts.

Hard in a packed timetable, but it was very valuable.

I have a feeling this next academic year will be different.

Less of a battle, less of a struggle, less of feeling under appreciated and more of having an undercurrent of support.

Let’s hope so anyway.

I know primary’s get all hung up on SATs results, but I can’t even begin to imagine the pressure of GCSE and A-level results for secondaries.
