Bothelm's Broken Brones - The Healing Powers of Holy Moss
An injured monk seeks divine healing, and finds it in the mossy relic of a historic battle.
seaxeducation.substack.com
I've started a new series on my blog where I retell some of the lesser-known stories from early medieval England. The latest
(seaxeducation.substack.com/p/bothelms-b...) is about a monk, a broken arm, and the powers of divine moss.
Do check it out, and maybe one day I can afford my rent!

Good terminology use here, but I’d still go with ‘agnomina’!
William the Conqueror died today in 1087.
The last in a long line of Norman dukes with cool cognomens
Father: Robert the Magnificent
Grandpa: Richard the Good
Gr Grandpa: Richard the Fearless
Gr Gr: William Longsword
Downhill after William.
Oldest son: Robert Short Stockings.
It didn't go well

Does anybody know a modern historian who works on either George Canning or Lord Castlereagh? I'm trying to hunt down a specific quote I haven't been able to find yet.

Genuinely quite a scary experience being in the Gladstone Link as the lights suddenly shut off...
Due to a power outage in central Oxford some Bodleian libraries (The Weston Library, Radcliffe Camera, and the Old Bodleian) will close at 5pm today. SSE hope to restore power by 9.30pm.
