Last week our Marine Debris Team completed our final survey of 2025 at Seawolf Park! We removed over 85 pounds of marine debris from the shoreline and in-water areas around the fishing pier!

Our Marine Debris Team was out on Rettilon Road Monday in Bolivar helping keep our coastline clean!🚮🐢

We removed over 310 pounds of debris including almost 4,000 pieces of plastic! Thank you to our volunteers for making a difference and to volunteers who stayed to help us sort the marine debris!

🚨New patient alert!🚨

This juvenile green sea turtle was found entangled in fishing line along the Freeport Jetty. Thanks to the public callers who reported this incident to the 1-866-TURTLE-5 hotline, our GCSTR permitted team was able to jump into action to rescue this turtle.

This past Sunday, our Marine Debris Team removed over 119 pounds of trash from Brazoria County Beach Access #5, including more than 4,000 pieces of plastic. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping us making a difference!

Plastic pollution is especially dangerous for sea turtles.

Yesterday, a green sea turtle was spotted struggling to dive and swim at Seawolf park. A concerned park staff member called the 1-866-TURTLE-5 hotline, which is answered 24/7, 365 days a year by the GCSTR permitted team.

As part of our GCSTR Marine Debris Program, we clean up multiple sites along the upper Texas coast to identify the most common types of debris and track how quickly it returns throughout the year.

Our team recently removed nearly 40 pounds of waste from the North Jetty on the Bolivar Peninsula!
