Domestic workers have a right to a paid 10-minute, uninterrupted rest break for every four consecutive hours of work. If work responsibilities make it infeasible to take breaks, the household must provide additional pay for the missed meal period.

Office of Labor Standards announces investigation of an in-home childcare employer and alleged violations of the Wage Theft Ordinance. The employee worked as a nanny providing full-time childcare in the employer’s Seattle home for nearly one year. Employer agreed to pay $5,316.00.

Office of Labor Standards alleged Amazon Flex failed to provide a deactivated worker the process required by the App-Based Worker Deactivation Rights Ordinance. Amazon Flex agreed to restart the deactivation process and pay $1,245.70, including $622.85 in civil penalties and $622.85 in fines.

Office of Labor Standards announces the Grocery Employee Hazard Pay, Gig Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time, and Gig Worker Premium Pay Ordinances are no longer in effect. During enforcement, OLS investigated 17 companies, resulting in a combined $18,711,472.14 returned to 81,561 affected workers.

Office of Labor Standards investigated Amazon Logistics, Inc. dba Amazon Flex for alleged violations of Gig Worker Premium Pay, Gig Worker Paid Sick & Safe Time & App-Based Worker Paid Sick & Safe Time Ordinances. Amazon Flex agreed to resolve claims for $3,777,924.10 to 10,968 affected workers.

Under Seattle's Secure Scheduling Ordinance employers must post work schedules at least 14 days in advance, and respect employees’ right to decline any hours not on originally posted schedules.

@seattleols alleged that Gopuff violated the App-Based Worker Deactivation Rights Ordinance. To informally resolve the complaint, Gopuff agreed to reactivate the worker and pay the worker $1,245.70, which includes $622.85 in civil penalties and $622.85 in fines.

Clubgrade LLC dba ClubZ! Tutoring agreed to an informal resolution under the Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance. Clubgrade LLC dba ClubZ! agreed to pay a total financial remedy of $1,025.62 to the affected worker ($425.62 for work performed and a $600 civil penalty).
