Phoenix (finally!) getting its first non-stop flight to Asia is a big deal. It's to Taipei, and it will start early next year. Kudos to @mayorgallego.bsky.social and her team, as this, along with the continued TSMC development, is a huge economic driver for AZ.

"Millions of people who are financially comfortable now may be just one bad break away from needing Medicaid for themselves or a member of their immediate family. Medicaid is a shield against anxiety for the luckiest among us."

In light of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to hear a case seeking to roll back state bans on conversion therapy, I spoke to 12 News about my 5-year long effort in the Senate to introduce legislation banning the practice in Arizona (it's still legal to this day).

Arizona man was subjected to conversion therapy when he was 18. He's endured a long journey recovering from it.
U.S. Supreme Court will weigh whether to overturn Colorado ban on controversial practice. Former congressman’s gay son says he’s still dealing with fallout.

When we talk about Medicaid, some context on how vital it is for all Arizonans (and how important the 2011 bipartisan Medicaid expansion effort was in expanding coverage).

Another key point: 46% of all births in Arizona are covered by Medicaid, too.

"We need to make sure that we’re matching our politics to what actually is happening in the real world, because sometimes when we have that disconnect, we miss really, really badly. We entirely missed where the American public was during the 2024 election."

Rooting for the Bills today. I've always rooted for teams and communities who have yet to win championships, and I enjoyed reading this story about how Buffalo adores their Bills. Still holding out hope my Cardinals and Suns reach the promised land soon, too. 🙏

Loved this profile of Cam Skattebo, ASU's do-it-all running back. "I always said he was like a Viking. A couple of hundreds years ago, he’d have been at the front of the boat with horns on his helmet, ready to jump onto the other boat to take it over." Go Devils!

For my Bluesky posts, I think I'll share interesting articles I've read. Up today: the struggles airports are having with incorporating ride sharing into their infrastructure (and another reason to be thankful for how easy to use Phoenix Sky Harbor is!).

A few airports, like LaGuardia, have designed terminals with ride hailing in mind. But at LAX and others, be ready to bus and walk.
