San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle and driver that fled the scene of a traffic collision leaving a pedestrian fatally injured in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at about 2:08 a.m., a 41-year-old male was crossing the street mid-block at 1400 Garnet Avenue. A vehicle was traveling westbound on Garnet Avenue and struck the pedestrian. The vehicle fled the scene continuing eastbound on Garnet Avenue. The suspect was last seen driving north on 4500 Gresham Street. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital before succumbing to his injuries. Suspect’s Vehicle Description: White Mercedes SUV, possibly an GLS or GLA model, with damage to its passenger side headlight. Driver ran a red light in Torrey Pines and crashed into a left-turning tractor-trailer. Her vehicle became wedged beneath the trailer. She was extricated by firefighters and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. #VisionZero

Torrey Pines Rd Neighborhood: Torrey Pines Type: Serious Injury Collision Synopsis: A 58-year old male was driving a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer, making a left turn from North Torrey Pines Rd. to Scripps Clinic S Driveway. The tractor-trailer had the green turn signal light. A 24-year old female was driving a 2024 Honda Civic southbound in the number one lane of 10600 North Torrey Pines Rd. The Honda ran a red traffic signal light and collided broadside with the rear of the trailer. The Honda became wedged underneath the trailer. The driver had to be extricated by S.D.F.D. personnel. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries. Hospital staff determined her injuries to be life threatening. At this time it is unknown if DUI was a factor for the driver of the Honda. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded and is investigating the collision. Driver was speeding on F Street (where SR-94 dumps freeway traffic into East Village) and struck a vehicle driving across the intersection, then crashed into a parked truck. Passenger in the struck vehicle suffered a brain bleed and ruptured diaphragm. Driver arrested for DUI. #VisionZero

Perales Location: 15th Street and F Street Neighborhood: East Village Type: Serious Injury Collision Synopsis: A 20-year-old male was driving a Kia Optima westbound on F Street at a high rate of speed. A 37-year-old male was driving a Subaru Forester southbound on 15th Street crossing F Street. The front end of the 20- year-old male’s vehicle broadsided the 37-year-old male’s vehicle. The 20-year-old male then collided with a parked Ford F-150 which was pushed into a parked Toyota Corolla. A passenger in the 37-year-old male’s vehicle suffered serious injuries including a brain bleed and a ruptured diaphragm. The 20-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Driver struck two pedestrians who were crossing the street in the Gaslamp Quarter. Police say the driver had been involved in an altercation with the two victims and arrested her on suspicion of DUI and attempted murder. Victims were hospitalized with serious injuries. #VisionZero

O'Brien Location: 4th Ave/Island Ave. Neighborhood: Gaslamp Type: Assault with Deadly Weapon (Vehicle) Synopsis: A Central Division officer was on the 500 block of 4th Avenue when he heard the sound of a vehicle accelerating. He observed a Kia Optima rapidly approach and veer in the direction of two female pedestrians who were crossing the street at the intersection of 4th Ave and Island Ave. The vehicle collided with both pedestrians. The Kia attempted to turn eastbound onto Island Ave. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle yielded at 5th Ave and Island Ave. The driver identified as Annabel Fernandez, exited the driver seat of the vehicle. She was detained and evaluated for driving under the influence. During the investigation it was discovered that Fernandez had been involved in a physical altercation with both pedestrians prior to the collision at 555 4th Avenue. Fernandez had exited the location and waited in her car for them to leave before accelerating towards them as they crossed the street. Fernandez was subsequently arrested felony DUI as well as two counts of attempted murder. The pedestrians sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Central Division detectives are investigating the incident. Driver struck a 6-year-old boy who was riding his bike in an alley in Pacific Beach. The driver paused, accelerated, ran the child over and fled.

The 52-year-old female was at the intersection of Ashford Street and Beagle Street. A 94-year-old female was in the north crosswalk crossing 3500 Ashford Street going from east to west. The 94-year-old female was using a walker. The 52-year-old female made a left (northbound) turn onto 3500 Ashford Street from 7400 Beagle Street. The 52-year-old female impacted the 94-year-old female in the crosswalk. The 94-year-old female was thrown into the northbound lane of 3500 Ashford Street. The 94-year-old female suffered a hematoma to the forehead, a laceration from the left elbow to the left wrist, knee pain, back pain and was transported to a local hospital. A 61-year-old female was driving a Kia Soul eastbound 3800 Ocean View Boulevard. The 33-year-old male crossed over into the eastbound lane and impacted the 61-year-old female’s vehicle head-on. The 61-year-old female's passenger (a 63-year-old female) sustained a broken femur. The 61-year old female sustained a yet-to-be confirmed leg injury. A 49-year-old male was driving his 2014 Nissan Sentra westbound on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The 49-year-old male attempted to make an illegal left-hand turn into a shopping center. The 33-year-old male collided with the passenger side of the 49-year-old male’s vehicle. The 33-year-old male suffered multiple facial lacerations, brain bleeds and required CPR on scene. An approximately 15-year-old male pedestrian was in the intersection of Camino Ruiz and Hydra Lane. It is unknown what direction the pedestrian was traveling. The vehicle impacted the pedestrian in the intersection. The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, sustained fatal injuries. The driver was not injured. O'Brien Location: 4850 Pacific Highway Neighborhood: Morena Type: Fatal Collision Synopsis: A 35-year old male pedestrian was walking in the northbound lane of 4850 Pacific Highway. A 30-year old female was driving a 2024 Honda Civic northbound in the northbound lane of 4850 Pacific Highway. The driver saw the pedestrian in the roadway and swerved to the right, attempting to avoid a collision. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian as well as a Toyota Prius parked on the east curbline of Pacific Highway. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded and is investigating the collision. D.U.I. was determined to not be a factor in this collision. An approximately 60-year-old male crossed northbound mid-block on India Street and entered the path of the unknown suspect and was struck. The unknown suspect fled the scene. The 60-year-old male was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect vehicle and driver remain outstanding. An 83-year-old male crossed mid-block to the south, entering the path of the 71-year-old male and was struck. The 83-year-old male sustained a pelvic fracture, a brain bleed, and was transported to a local hospital. The 83-year-old male’s injuries are considered life-threatening. O'Brien Location: 1900 Garnet Ave. Neighborhood: Pacific Beach Type: Serious Injury Collision Synopsis: A 35-year old male was walking southbound on the east crosswalk of 1900 Garnet Ave against the red don't walk signal. A 21 year old male was riding a Suzuki 1500 motorcycle eastbound on 1900 Garnet Ave. The motorcycle collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The pedestrian sustained a lacerated liver, fractured femur, as well as several other fractures. The motorcyclist sustained multiple abrasions. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded and is handling the collision investigation. D.U.I. is not suspected. O'Brien Location: 7500 Mission Gorge Rd Neighborhood: San Carlos Type: Fatal Collision Synopsis: A 47-year old male was driving a 2021 Honda CRV, southbound in the number two lane of 7500 Mission Gorge Rd. A 38-year old female pedestrian was walking westbound mid-block on 7500 Mission Gorge Rd. The driver of the CRV did not see the pedestrian until the last minute and ultimately collided with her. The pedestrian came to rest in the number two southbound lane of 7500 Mission Gorge Rd. A short time later, a 66-year old male driving a 2022 Tesla Model Y drove over the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded to the scene and is investigating the collision.
