“The Unwinding”
I love this song, but tell me more about these high-heeled boys. How high are these heels? 👠 👠

And what currently touring female-fronted band would you most like to see that you’ve never seen?

Sierra Ferrell
I’m a terrible dude, but I do love seeing female led bands, maybe even disproportionately:

Gillian Welch*
Neko Case*
Biscuit Burners
Dehlia Low
Lake Street Dive
Twisted Pine
Acid Wrench
…plus the local band I play in*

*seen these bands more times than any other band besides Phish, WMFP, and YMSB.

No bueno.
This, piled on top of everything else going on in the world…is brutal…
As of today we have a new record low snowpack for the Upper Colorado River basin for late January.

To my ears, the sound quality of Tidal is far superior to Spotify. There’s like a night and day difference.

If Miami wins, their loses are…Louisville and SMU…it’s a strange new world of college football.

Does anyone else ever feel like some of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard reminds them sonically of another king?

King Crimson?

Saw a band cover Heart Shaped Box tonight and wow that song. That song is unbelievingly poignant and wild and thought provoking and wonderful and you can’t help but sing along.

“ what’s a good phone number for you?”

Do y’all mf’s have bad phone numbers floating around everywhere that led to every interaction they have to now ask for your GOOD phone number?

I love creative effective presentations of complex information. This is great.
Globally, no single day in 2025 was cooler than its 1991-2020 average.

This animal has the right idea. We should all drop a little poo on ICE.

Anyone had a good or bad experience with these weirdos? Seems sketch.

😩 ❄️ ☀️ 👀
After some snow late last week the Colorado River basin is now entering a 10-day warm and dry spell, meaning by mid to late January we could be seeing record low snowpack for this time of year.

(black line is this year's snowpack accumulation, red line is lowest on record, green is median)

Earlier today, I got into the car and the local radio was playing Weather Report Suite.

“Darkness falls and seasons change
Same old friends the wind and rain, Summers fade and roses die”

Damn. Bob Weir. 😢 🖤 🖤

Since #mapday expires at midnight, better get this in quick!

Most of the Mid-Atlantic and New England “stayed here” states happened on a long long walk on the Trail of the Appalachians, which was a glorious time indeed.

You can argue about dark roast or light roast coffee but for me I prefer a proprietary mix I just invented of 2/3 Ethiopian light roast and 1/3 Sumatran dark roast.

It just happened to be what was left in the house, but now I think it’s perfect approach for an afternoon coffee.

Fens! Here’s a great article on our work at the organization I’ve been a part of for >10 years.
Bogs are great, but I'm really into San Juan mountain fens and their restoration. 2026, year of the bogs and fens?
