Damn I'm tired of the lack of actual critical thinking here. It's all scorched earth all the time.

I will vote for any Democrat presidential candidate who will commit to making @billmckibben.bsky.social (or a McKibben designee) the head of the Dept of (Renewable) Energy. @democrats.org take note.

@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social and @dkthomp.bsky.social : shouldn't @billmckibben.bsky.social 's "Here Comes the Sun" feed right into the central argument of "Abundance"? McKibben says there is a huge backlog of solar power held up by too much red tape!

@billmckibben.bsky.social and @chrislhayes.bsky.social really got me focused and energized about the amazing potential of solar energy and wind power. Solar strengthened my sense of agency, that I can make a difference as an individual. Reading McKibben's book now!

"I came away from both these concerts marveling that while our republic tears itself apart and our species frantically hurries to destroy its own household, yet we go on building with vibrations in the air, in the spirit—making this music, this intangible, beautiful, generous thing."Ursula K. The DNC seems to be solely committed to rejecting any and all innovation.

The most dynamic parts of populace have lost faith in DNC leadership. Now is the time for the creation of a new party, if only to scare the DNC into change.

Howard Zinn was born on this day in 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. Zinn was an historian and activist whose influential book, A People’s History of the United States, promoted a “bottom-up” history, focusing on the experiences of marginalized people rather than national leaders. /1

When I was in graduate school getting my master's in theatre, a member of my class, frustrated at the rigor of the acting training, burbled "I just wanna be goofy!"

I'm pretty certain that this has become the vision statement for most American theater. It's totally committed to stupification.

The purpose of entertainment is to escape pain; the purpose of art is to deepen understanding of self and others.

The overwhelming amount of entertainment in our culture ought to tell us something about our nation.

The problem with social media isn't that it's addictive, it's that you soon realize just how stupid most people are.

@karaswisher.bsky.social I have gradually become a fan of your podcasts, but there is one thing with which I disagree (so, of course, that's what I'm posting about). Labeling phones as "addictive" and irresistible has the effect of disempowering kids and implying they are at the mercy of tech 1/2

Yesterday and today are why I am not a huge fan of social media. Did I really need to see pictures and clever comments about Trump on the White House roof? No. No I did not. Empty calories. I'm really, really tired of being bombarded with nonsense.

At the Israeli prison, US human rights defender Chris Smalls was physically assaulted by seven uniformed individuals. They choked him and kicked him in the legs.
We condemn this violence against Chris and demand accountability for the assault and discriminatory treatment he faced. #BreakTheSiege

Why do people think it makes them look "smart" and "world weary" and "realistic" when they respond to the latest moral outrage with "Are we supposed to be surprised by this"? Your surprise or lack thereof is irrelevant. If it's wrong, it's wrong. Cynicism adds nothing to the conversation.

The idea that the birthday wishes to Epstein are fake is silly. If somebody wanted to forge something like that, they would've written it more directly and more incriminating, not so obliquely and "nudge nudge wink wink"-ish. This is the real deal.

Why do all theater productions look either like a rock concert (complete with handheld mics) or a children's show (complete with electric primary-color costumes and garish makeup)? Have we completely forgotten that theater is an ART FORM? Is it now a branch of the theme park industry? #theatre

@hartmannreport.com I just finished your Neoliberalism history, but I'm confused about the chapters on tariffs, which you are positive about. How are the current tariffs different. (I just discovered you, so if you've written about this, please tell me where.)

Dear @democrats.org -- I have voted a straight Democratic ticket since my first election in 1976. But if you go after @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social the way you went after @sanders.senate.gov in 2020, I will re-register as an Independent and begin voting 3rd party. I'm over your centrist BS.
