Retired. A wargamer and hillwalker from SW London.
Off to Warfare show this morning - first time since it moved to Farnborough. Fortunately I have been offered a lift from the station as it's a 30 minute walk otherwise, probably in rain! My wallet is quaking.

Rye Beach Pillbox - designed according to the info board for two Vickers MMGs. Those could be moved around to different tables.

Two 20mm Unic P107 conversions for 21 PzD in Normandy. Manufacturer = Early War Miniatures. The new resin bodies are excellent but the white metal track assemblies required a little work.

As the number of painted figures increases, so bookshelves must be converted for models by putting in glass doors and extra (glass) shelves. IKEA have changed just about everything about thei Billy Range in 20+ years so doors need new holes drilled, glass shelf lugs also need new drilling. Pah!

Why is it that when setting up a game you find you don't have enough figures, and don't even have them in the heap of shame?

And in the afternoon at Herts of Lard 2015, I played CoC - Are You Sure 1944 Arakan ... another excellent game with excellent scenery. This one did not go quite as well for the good guys.

Herts of Lard - my first Lardy Day. Brilliant IABSM game Taking The Starmaskaya Bridge in the morning, featuring the crashed Stuka, a PzIV close assaulted and taken, and an honourable draw at the end. Thanks to everyone.

Had a first game of Frostgrave for 15 months yesterday ... the old familiarity came back by the end. We are starting the Red King campaign but using 1st Edition rules (too tight to buy the newer version). Spinn umpired the game and will incorporate some role-playing between games.

Friday we completed the TF Chapuis PSC for Chain of Command (from WSS mag). The Americans had overwhelming force to take 3rd table and win. Little the Germans could do - the US armoured infantry platoon had >50 men vs 32, and nearly double the support.

Thursday - played our second try-out of Dux Britanniarum : hopefully next session starts the campaign. Rules are nicely simple & seem to give plausible results. Saxon raid on a church seen off by the British; Saxons oddly reluctant to get stuck in. 1 unit got away with loot, all rest judged killed.

This is a Campaign Cartographer map of the hamlet of New Hall I created for Runequest - took about 20 mins to make and set the scene nicely.

First Game of Dux Britanniarum this week
Very much a tryout - Saxons attempting to capture a Romano-British noble on patrol out from a border tower. Saxons succeeded: they caught the patrol as it tried to swing round the flank. We'll reset for the next game, which will be the start of a campaign.

I Ain't Been Shot Mum Galmanche Scenario
Over a long time I've been working a new map for the IABSM scenario 3 "Action at Galmanche". Aim was a bigger table that better reflected 1944 aerial photos. This is the latest version: allows for a 10' x 7' table. Now working on a "what if" for D+1.
