Good point - in my opinion, I think that government incentives could lead people to pursue journalism for the wrong reasons or publish content that is highly satiable and/or clickbait in order to continue getting that government incentive. #J201 #307

Framing does affect our values and beliefs, but I also think personal experiences, family and friends, and religion all play a huge role in creating beliefs/values. I do think framing could affect it, but I also think values and beliefs are built and influenced by multiple factors. #J201 #307

I think companies do take that into account because there has been an increased focus on the need for cohesion between creativity and successful marketing strategies. It also depends on how profitable the company is because one with more money will likely be more practiced in advertising. #J201 #307

I think the most effective way to eliminate bias is by presenting arguments from both sides of the spectrum. I think no matter what there will be bias, so it's important to at least exhibit both sides of the bias so that its' effects pretty much cancel out. #J201 #307

In discussion, we talked about aspects of Journalism that were impactful to learn, including the way an individual's race can determine the way they engage with media and the way in which they are portrayed in media. Is this something companies often take accountability for? #J201 #307

Sometimes having more information is helpful because there is more data to come to a reasoned conclusion. At the same time, I think sometimes media outlets can feed off each other negatively and create misinformation that is easily validated due to the sheer amount of reporting on it. #j201 #307

Middle ground would not necessarily exist without extremist individuals. Many people lean independent/middle ground because they have witnessed the drawbacks of extremism. Even though extremism is a negative aspect of politics, it does serve as a way to pinpoint where middle ground is. #J201 #307

In discussion, we talked about how one of the 7 main news values is novelty. Does the attempt for a story to be novel always take away from its accuracy/authenticity? How could there be a more level balance of the two, or do you think there already is? #J201 #307

Though framing can cause biased commentary, I think it would also be harmful not to have it. It would be most beneficial for there to be more sources that offer multiple frames on the same topic. For example, having one article with multiple frames of pro life and pro choice opinions. #J201 #307

A good way for consumers to support local news is by seeking physical news sources. A lot of local news sources are available in the newspaper, local magazines, and even church bulletins. Making an extra effort to seek these physical copies would be beneficial for local news. #J201 #307

In class, we talked about how portraying ads, specifically a new type of car, as an approachable, manageable idea. How can companies create an effective ad like this while still making it exciting and fun - is there a fine line between the two? #J201 #307

I think that getting up close to the information does offer a raw, authentic perspective of the event but it may lead that journalist to feel as though they have ALL the information, when in reality a lot of the information often is related to things they wouldn't directly be viewing. #J201 #307

I think this could be a really good idea. In the article "How the $500 billion industry really works" I learned about how the subsidization of media through ads allows people to get higher quality information and I think this could do the same with local bipartisan news stations. #J201 #307

In class, we talked about presumed media influence. The example was the process of viewing the "ideal thin female" in magazines, and putting that expectation on oneself. With the body positivity movement, do you think that this process has decreased in its strength or stayed the same? #J201 #307

In the review for the exam, we discussed how poor men from foreign countries are often deemed as the "villain." What are other examples of this in popular media, and how can these stereotypes be destroyed? #UWJ201 #307

In "Polarization isn't America's biggest problem - or Facebook's," Daniel Kriess discusses how affective polarization is becoming increasingly evident in our media-run society. How can we prevent ourselves from being subjected to this and thus developing dislike towards opposing sides? #UWJ201 #307
