Not a game, but I wrote a 2pg supplement for #a5e that was all about expanding rules for fibercraft within your general kitchen-sink fantasy because fibercraft takes time and, as a result, should be expensive preautomation (and post-, but that's different).
This could be anything from a game about sorting a bag of textiles to a TTRPG about the trials of being a worker in the Ghanaian textile markets or a game about quilting or a game about conservation or about fast fashion.
So I’m sitting here drinking for the first time this year, and it just occurred to me I could totally host a game jam about textile sustainability @threadupoxford.bsky.social . Video - analog - whatever you have no idea how very much shit there is related to this topic. I could teach a class.

It's easy to learn because of market saturation. Many people understand what, more or less, they'll be doing when they pick it up. The harder stuff does definitely fall on the DM, but in a group with multiple levels of game knowledge, that's not inherently awful.
I want to test a theory I saw on Tumblr, so RTs are appreciated.
Do you think D&D is considered easy to learn because players push the responsibility of knowing the majority of rules to the DM?
To what degree do you feel this contributes to some D&D players unwillingness to try other ttrpgs?

Cooking dinner and thinking about mechanics-as-plot and really, mechanics as catastrophe. Things like the Deck of Many Things, or the more common threat, banishment, which I am running the consequences of tonight (well, prismatic spray, but the character got banished).

Why is my PhD candidacy paperwork pending? Ah, well you see, my candidacy form had a unique glitch today that meant that only the t's and d's of my meticulously filled out form actually... showed up. This feels like a metaphor but damn if I know for what.
