Another childhood banger turning 30 this year. This was a cultural reset in ESC, finally the contest got a song sounding like 1996, instead of dated ballads and Enya-ish New Age stuff. Yeah Gina didn’t sing the best live, but 8th was still ridiculously low. 🇬🇧

Another childhood banger turning 30 this year. This was a cultural reset in ESC, finally the contest got a song sounding like 1996, instead of dated ballads and Enya-ish New Age stuff. Yeah Gina didn’t sing the best live, but 8th was still ridiculously low. 🇬🇧

This was so robbed back in 2010. Should have gone to AC, if not to the final. Hanna Lindblad invested her own budget into the staging and was paid dust. Deserved better.

I miss when Melfest had their own website. I would be reading and watching everything I could until it just disappeared. Mellopedia now is great and Gustav Dahlander is going Lord's work, but it looks kinda dry and I wish it would be more interactive...

I love how the bootcut/wide jeans are back in style, way more comfortable than skinny ones. But the 2000s fashion was something else. Dress and jeans put together, uggs, insanely short skirts, metallic leggings, colourful skinny pants, shapeless tunics… it was a lot.

Christer Björkman’s autobiography “Generalen” is full of tea about Melfest and Eurovision and he’s blunt about everyone. Here’s the bit about him preparing Carola for Lordi’s win in 2006. Because she’d see victory as the only possible outcome both in Melfest and in ESC.

Absolutely wild how 🇦🇺 really tried until like Kate Miller Heidke and since Covid, they couldn’t care less, except for maybe Voyager. They were about to win in the 2010s and now they are kinda lost. I know the circumstances don’t really help atm, but still weird how they just stopped trying.
