Policy angle: Gradual EU carbon prices cool demand and lower medium run inflation. Stepwise 2030/2040/2050 targets announcements increase volatility and generate temporary spikes in GDP, inequality and inflation.

Key results: Targeted transfers to constrained households are the most progressive and reduce inequality, but they imply larger output losses. Using revenues for tax cuts or green subsidies stabilizes GDP and investment but is less redistributive.
