Shipping from the American Midwest/Rust Belt (Duluth, Milwaukee, Chicago and also Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo) can occur from the Great Lakes into the Atlantic.
The only way around Niagara Falls is through the Welland Canal which is entirely in Ontario...
