Only a gardener understands the joy of discovering a flower you thought you’d lost. This is my favourite Hellebore, double Ellen Picotee. It failed to thrive last year so I figured it wasn’t as robust as my other hellebores. It seems I was wrong.

Storm Darragh has finally gone on its merry way to goodness knows where and it’s been a beautifully clear day here. Clear days bring cold nights though so it’s home to light the fire and put some soup on to warm

Every now and then I take a photograph that I really like. This is one such photo. It’s of a back lane running from my house to the neighbouring village. It’s hard to believe, looking at this, that you can drive down this lane but if you’re brave it’s possible
