Unsolicited writing advice, no. 107632:
If you're writing a sex scene, beware of over-describing actions. Sensations, thoughts and feelings often work better, and won't end up reading like a biology manual.

there's so much disrespect of romance writers and romance readers baked into the idea that AI-driven production of novels is 'better'. as if writing romance isn't skillful, hard and joyous work. as if romance readers aren't discerning, loyal and savvy.

Received these beauties recently: It's a Polish translation of my book, Behind the Rake's Wicked Wager. Love the cover - and online translation tells me the title is "Masters of Flirting!"
Isn't that wonderful???😍🤩

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

Sick of all the whataboutery. Starmer needs to stick tight as he is definitely the right man for the job. Why should he take the tumble for Mandelson... he's not his keeper and I believe he makes the decisions he makes and has made with the best intentions. No ill intent. Just NOT in his DNA ever!

The British mainstream media is busy trying to oust Starmer, again, and yet they seem not at all interested in a much bigger and more serious Epstein story involving Farage, Putin, and Brexit.

Fortunately, @bylinetimes.bsky.social is.

Nigel Farage was the figurehead and his partner Laure Ferrari started it. Steve Bannon and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were providing almost daily support

Yes please. And maybe not bill it as a romance....
Dear Film Industry,
Wouldn't it be nice to have a film version of WUTHERING HEIGHTS that was:
1. Filmed in Yorkshire
2. With actors that one could plausibly believe to be from Yorkshire
3. Of the right age (teens and 20s)
4. Actually scripted by someone who has read the book ALL the way through?

Some interesting reporting in the New Statesman. There was a shortlist of four to be UK Ambassador to the US. Starmer favoured George Osborne. It was Morgan McSweeney who pushed for Mandelson.
