Well now I'm actually drinking in a bit of history when I'm downing my countless caps...
Cappuccino, originating in Italy, was named after the Capuchin Monks. The drink's white and brown colour resembled their distinctive attire, which served as its inspiration.

The monkeys are also named after them #TravelAddicts #TravelSky

Oh wait - a TV ad just mentioned “Black Friday Season”! 🤦‍♀️ Anyone know how long “BF season” may last? Asking for a friend…
This! So sick of it. And worse it’s anything from a week to a month long -ugh.

God dropping some facts!
Billionaires are using all of their resources to turn underpaid workers against each other, so that you never focus on them, the billionaires.

This is incredible - so happy to see this grand dame back and so beautifully restored!
Wow. Here is one to brighten up your morning. The first images of the restored interior of Notre Dame cathedral. Breathtaking. In just five years France did it

This is great…
The EU is about to launch a single European booking system for train tickets.

This means that you will be able to travel to multiple destinations in multiple countries on just one ticket with your full travel schedule clearly mapped out. 👍👍👍

I’m loving the feel of newness (though I know a lot of people have been Blueskying a long time) and the sense of low grade coercion to tempt more friends and reputable accounts over here. What great accounts have you found so far (inc those that maybe weren’t even on the other place)?

Right now, I can see no reason to argue with him. Different views are important but a rational feed is healthy
Part 5 of Newsnight's coverage of people leaving Twitter/X for @bsky.app we hear from @jimalkhalili.bsky.social that

"Bluesky is very easy to use.. Some say it's like an echo chamber, you only listen to people you agree with.. Why not, what's wrong with that" - concur 👏

“We don’t spend enough time in imagined worlds anymore like we used to when books sparked our imaginations and transported us to far away places.” This is a good!

I asked an academic friend this week how we can encourage critical thought once more. It’s so lacking. Travel also opens the mind.
Feels like I'm just posting to the void since I'm just getting started here, but why not. I write a weekly newsletter, and this week I write about how far away from reading and critical thinking we’ve come. It's lacking in our education, COVID learning loss, social media attention spans, all of it.
We need to get back to reading and critical thinking
Because 2024 feels different from 2016.

Morning, Bluesky! Here’s hoping this is a fun new world that doesn’t soon make us hate the algo (and much more). Here are some decidedly blue skies from my recent trip to Mauritius.
