It's always special to see the first Purple Sandpiper of the Winter. Today at Rhos Point there was just the one. #birdingwales #ukbirding #northwales

Lovely to see a splendid male Goldeneye today at RSPB Conwy (although abit distant). There's been two female Goldeneye hanging around for about a week who were probably pleased as well. Don't see too many of these at Conwy. #birdingwales

Nice to see my first Shore Lark in Wales this afternoon on the Great Orme. Last time I saw any was 34 years ago in Norfolk! In fading light and rain I managed some terrible digiscoped images before it flew away #birdingwales

It was great to see the Lesser Yellowlegs today on the Inland Sea, Ynys Môn. Thanks to @alandaviesbirds.bsky.social and Ruth for the directions. Two Great Northern Divers and a Slavonian grebe at Beddmanarch Bay also.

Great to catch up with Sanderling on the Conwy Estuary this week. Video stills only as the little darlings are just abit tricky to film 😆 #birdingwales #ukbirding

Seawatching at Rhos Point on Thursday: plenty of Gannet moving through (video slowed down).

Today, rather quiet EXCEPT for one miraculous Leach's Petrel - the first moment, literally, I looked through my scope, there it was 😀 but no footage sadly.... #birdingWales #NorthWales

Some more footage of the White Rumped Sandpiper from Malltraeth. It was meant to be wintering in Patagonia: many of our Welsh forefathers in the 1800s also made a perilous, long migration there. Their journey was successful, let's hope it makes a successful journey too ... #birdingwales #ukbirding

It was wonderful to get the chance to see the juvenile White-Rumped Sandpiper at Malltraeth Cob pool, Ynys Môn today. Thanks to the skilled original finder.

Pleased to spot a lively Jack Snipe today at RSPB Conwy from the Foel Fras screen. It turns out another one was being watched at the same time from the Carneddau hide. Videos don't do it justice as it was quite distant and in poor light. #birdingwales

It has been a very good Autumn for Curlew Sandpiper across Wales and beyond, so it was great to find one this week in the high tide roost at RSPB Conwy. #birdingwales @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Even in low light yesterday it was a joy to spend time with this moulting Knot at RSPB Conwy, still plenty of gorgeous summer plumage left to see. A little bit of the Arctic tundra brought to the Conwy estuary.... #birdingWales @birdsinwales.bsky.social

It's been such a treat to spend time with the two juvenile Curlew Sandpipers at RSPB Conwy over the last few days. When you are en-route from the Arctic heading towards Africa a few 'spa' days are a must 😃 #birdingWales @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Managed to see the two juvenile Curlew Sandpipers at RSPB Conwy again yesterday and they kindly came abit closer this time. Also a lovely Spotted Redshank hung around with the Redshank and a few Black Tailed Godwits, from the Tal y Fan hide. Click onto video for full view #birdingWales

Lovely to see this gorgeous Wood Sandpiper at RSPB Conwy today (video shows it being photo-bombed by a Common Sandpiper). A flying visit 😃 again but saw 12 Greenshank and a Peregrine causing mayhem. A Little Stint present but I didn't see that sadly. Click video for full size #birdingWales
