How do demands for justice relate to changing circumstances? How should we respond to historical injustices? How should we address climate change?

I am happy to announce that my book "The Temporal Dimension of Justice" was published by @degruyterbrill.bsky.social

Yesterday, we had a great conference on reparations and restitution at the University of Brighton.

I presented a paper (co-authored with Manuel Serrano) on the possible responsibilities of private individuals to return territory acquired as a result of historical injustice.

Our paper on the normative relevance of legitimate expectations (LE) in changing circumstances has found a place in the Volume 29 (Issue 4) of the Journal of Ethics (@springer.springernature.com).
In our view, LE should play a key role during the climate transition link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Maintaining living standards may mean unsustainable GHG emissions. A net-zero transition is crucial, but this could frustrate legitimate expectations (LE).
In our paper, Lukas Meyer & I explore when frustrating LE is justified and when compensation is needed:

Enseñé "A Theory of Justice" de Rawls y "Harm to Others" de Feinberg. Creí q varios temas eran viejos. Error.

End of semester. I taught Rawls' ToJ & Feinberg's Harm to Others. I thought some of the topics were outdated. I was wrong. We seem to have forgotten that natural talents and initial social positions are undeserved, and that sexual orientation has nothing to do with the likelihood to commit crimes.
