Did you know you could perform web crawling in R using the Rcrawler package?!

Web crawling is about indexing and discovering URLs from a page, similar to what a search engine does.

I haven’t yet tested this, but this looks very promising.

IMHO, Python’s only advantage over R is a better suite of tools for automated data downloading. This could be a game changer.

Big updates with rvest!

With the addition of the new function read_html_live, this allows you to perform live web scraping, identical to RSelenium. Although this is still in an experimental phase, this will be a game changer.
