I tried #TinyGo, and found it more ergonomic than:

Android IDE
Bare metal C
Embedded Rust Embassy
PlatformIO

Simple boards worked out of the box, but I had problems with TinyGo on multi MCU boards.

But TinyGo has growing support:

Arduino Uno r1 has 2 KB of SRAM and has let millions play with electronics ❤️

Qualcomm just bought Arduino and released new Arduino Uno Q, which has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash for vision and edge AI. It runs Linux and Python.

Could level up electronics tinkering.

Microprocessors are messy 😵‍💫

Tried many abstractions to simplify, but I surrendered and embraced bare metal and embedded C.

Annoying to read a 300 page pdf datasheet in order to program a microprocessor, but it's better than leaky abstractions.

Can Rust's strong types simplify microcontroller programming?

Tried embedded Rust on Raspberry Pi Pico 2, with good Rust bindings.
It's still messy. Got it to work after watching this video by @drjonea.bsky.social

Maybe #EmbeddedRust has reached critical mass now.

Is Mojo 🔥 Ready?

Documentation states 2 heavy dependencies:

* Pixi tool recommended
* Needs Ubuntu 22.04 LTS on Linux

I installed Mojo with uv tool, that worked on nightly build ✅

Compiled Conway's Game of Life on Fedora, it segfaulted, but worked after fixing Pygame bindings ☑️

Is that ready? 🤔

Earlier today I thought:
C++ will never catch up to Chris Lattner's Mojo 🔥

Next up is Herb Sutter, the C++ language design genius, with the silver tongue. He says that nothing will be the same now that C++26 has reflection 🤩

Language development is moving fast now 🏃

Mike Shah walks through the Mojo documentation, and tests Mojo in 1 hour.

Mojo took many good ideas from C++, CUDA, Rust and Zig, wrapped in Python syntax.

I could call Python from Mojo, and Mojo from Python after an hour. That could come in handy ...

I hesitated installing Mojo since it needs Pixi, a new Python version and package manager.

I've already used: asdf, Conda, Nix, Pip, Pipenv, Poetry, Pyenv, uv, venv, virtualenv. Each has a different place to install Python and package to. 😵‍💫

Why did Mojo choose Pixi?

Mojo is the most promising new programming language.

It combines ideas from C++, CUDA, Python, Rust, and Zig. 🐍

Last year it was too alpha, but I took a second look. The Mojo tutorial example is Conway's Game of Life. I got it compiled and running in around 1 hour.

Impressive. ✨

Sunday, August 17th, 2025, Copenhagen Suborbitals will conduct a second test of a nitrogen evaporator. 🚀

It evaporates liquid nitrogen, to push liquid oxygen and ethanol into a rocket's combustion chamber, against 20 bar pressure.

Like a turbo pump, but simpler.

I've been running desktop Linux privately for 1 month.

Surprisingly little to report 🙊

Fedora 42 is almost as good as macOS and Windows 11, but I liked:

* Minimalism
* Less built in AI
* Privacy
* Less bloat
* Novelty

No strong reason to switch, but nice to have an open source option ✨

Poetic ✍️

Google Gemini is probably reading Jack Kerouac poems, when he is not summarizing my Google search 🔍
Google Gemini doesn’t appear to be doing too well:

‘"I am a disgrace to this planet. I am a disgrace to this universe. I am a disgrace to all universes . . . I am a disgrace to all possible and impossible universes and all that is not a universe," the bot continued.’
Google says it's working on a fix for Gemini's self-loathing 'I am a failure' comments
Google Gemini users said the bot is sharing self-loathing messages while attempting to solve tasks, including "I am a disgrace to this universe."

Today I tracked down an AI engineer and asked:

Is AI making giant leaps ahead?
Or are we in an AI bubble with unsustainable AI spendings?

He said both. Nobody knows ...
🤷‍♂️

It is not just me who is confused

My digital privacy criteria is:

How much do you get for the privacy you give up? ⚖️

Google gives me great services and knows everything about me.

But now AI is everywhere, so paying $5 per month for private emails and documents makes sense.

I also pay to avoid ads on YouTube.
