🥶 It was a cold day, but nothing could match the warmth & pride of our Veterans Programs' clients & staff as they marched in the NYC #VeteransDay Parade & rode on the United War Veterans Council's Health & Wellness float. Thank you to UWVC and to all veterans for your service!

At last night’s #SOMOSConference2025 event, we heard from NYC Mayor-Elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social & NYS @governor.ny.gov.

We also met with City Council Members @shaunabreu.bsky.social, @ebottcher.bsky.social, & Linda Lee, whose continued partnership has been invaluable to our programs.

Today at the #2025SOMOSConference in Puerto Rico, we participated in legislative workshop panels focused on building coalitions and expanding support for programs with limited funding.

We also joined Councilman Chris Banks at an on-site event to hear from NYC's Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani.

At tthe Black Tie Dinner, we remembered Lamarr Wheeler, who was @nycveterans.bsky.social Sr. Exec. Dir. of Housing & Support Services. We also expressed our love & support for Mary Rice, mother of AVP of Residential Treatment Deirdre Rice-Reese. Mary is receiving breast cancer treatment.

At the 11th Annual Black Tie Dinner, 6 individuals were honored as Veteran Alumni Elite for maintaining five or more continuous years of recovery.

We also presented Staff Veterans Awards to employees who serve above and beyond for the staff and clients at the Veterans Programs.

Yesterday, our Grand Concourse Opioid Treatment Program in #theBronx hosted a special #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth event in which 2 cancer survivors who are also in recovery shared their personal stories.

No matter the challenge the recovery community is always there for support & strength. 💗
