Hi, I’m a Londoner and a writer, living in Marrakech. I write for TV, it’s my day job. I read, walk, swim, socialise, into art, nature, film, TV (🤍 sci-fi /fantasy). Zero interest in online bickering so quietly quit X. On a joy and friendship quest instead
Who am I reading? Reading about working at Meta and the book that became the TV show Murderbot) I finished Juice and some people are reading my cast (I broke my hand / wrist in a Me v Guéliz roadworks fail) Thank me for my service 😂🫡 #amreading

In the same week as reading Juice, I hosted a “film club” night here in Marrakech. We watched Don’t Look Up so the #climatecrisis theme continued. We feel it here after seven years of drought and then flash floods recently. In other news got gently trolled 😂 and we had another earthquake

Finished this book - a great listen on audible. Post apocalyptic Australia #climatecrisis #novel now started one if his previous novels: “breathe”

Why do my fellow British people say “… as a matter of interest”.when asking a question? I am now doubting their interest at all other times

As you all know, the United Kingdom is grey, damp & chilly in January. Missing home and the Storytellers Festival in Marrakech this month. But… #amworking

It’s fashionable to delete X but I dumped TikTok as in England, with no VPN, the algorithm pushes non-stop far right reels and fake videos. I see too much of Reform & Farage but no doubt lots of people will buy in. X feels irrelevant but TikTok’s effluence may prove credibly influential. #tiktok

January watch list included the Phoenix Brown doc on Nepo Babies - a reassuringly predictable outcome to her experiment. She should pursue filmmaking despite the irony. I started the Lockerbie drama, stoic, harrowing, set to make us all mad AH with our governments but overall simply very moving.

Some people you meet turn out to be deeply disappointing, flawed & often unhappy human beings. I’m not talking romantic partners but colleagues, friends, randoms. Happenstance means they can provide inspo for characters. Often drama development peeps ask “but why will we like ‘them’?” Well… 1/2

Sadly unsurprising as a dystopian sci-fi plot twist but my fear is that Sarah Connor won’t be able to fix it, this time.

But guys, my spare bitcoin jar is full, I’m worried the bottom will fall out of it.

I’m seeing jokes about the CEO who was shot dead in NYC. I don’t much about the victim other than his well paid job. I see from the comments and speculation that there is a generalised dissatisfaction with health insurance but the memes - what is that, simply the politics of envy?

I had a mother-in-law like this once.
In his latest video, @hankgreen.bsky.social talks about a phenomenon you may have noticed here: LLM-driven bots programmed to relentlessly disagree with anyone and everyone.

Some #womenofacertainage quickly become women of an UNcertain age because of age discrimination and social ridicule. Gregg Wallace recently started a public awareness campaign about that. Let’s thank him for his service 🫡

So a male, middle-class, middle-aged Chef & TV presenter in the UK, suggests 13 people’s allegations of his sexually inappropriate conduct at work are without merit because they were made by “a handful” of middle-class women “of a certain age”.

Maybe I can’t do the maths here because I’m a girl.

I’ve been reading about British #photographer Lizzie Hatton, who died aged 17 from a rare cancer. She pursued a #photography bucket list. An exhibition of her work was staged by British Land / Getty. The pursuit of her dream this year in her final chapter is the story of 2024: a lesson in living.

#writerscommunity A confession: I use exclamation marks too often. I use them like a full stop, almost. Why? Social anxiety on social media and emails? Writing in punchlines? If there is a government agency monitoring the misuse of exclamation marks then I am surely under surveillance.

Okay, #filmsky I’m team Gladiator 2 all the way with little desire to see Wicked and feel the either/or press coverage and box office crowing is getting old. Can’t we just Barbieheimer it? Gladicked? Wickiator 2? Oh, okay, I see now, never mind, carry on.
#filmsky which opinion would have you in this situation ? i wanna see your most controversial takes 👩‍💻

On my watch list tonight, Queen of Speed, a documentary about
Michele Mouton, French racing driver from the 70s/80s. Formidable. Yesterday I watched UNTETHERED, about the first blind woman to swim the English channel and Lake Geneva. Melanie Barratt, inspirational gold medal winning athlete.

3 days in a writers room storylining this week. I am now decompressing after acting out story pitches and waving my arms around like an Italian - why do I do that? I’m not Italian, I don’t even eat pizza. #writing #writingcommunity

What do you think? Having no life outside work and over working, has too often been seen as a badge of honour, right? And freelancers have zero protection and won’t complain for fear of losing work. This cultural change can’t come fast enough. I hope there is a trickle down for freelancers too.

This week I met up with old friends at The Ivy in Manchester (boujee) for the first Christmas food of the year. Well, pudding. I had the plant based frozen fruit (which I loved) but the puddings from the festive menu looked amazing. Snow and edible snowmen. Winter is here hashtag sleigh

Good morning. Just wanted to share that yesterday I had a gloriously stress-free day of travel from North Africa to London. Airport security, immigration, trains, all working efficiently. I kvetch like X when it goes wrong so here I am, blueskying it. Well done you transport bees, I salute you.

Hello, new person starting as I mean to go on, sharing randomness. An early morning walk in downtown Gueliz led me to a whimsical solar tree in an urban park. Do the ‘leaves’ tilt to follow the sun, anyone know? I couldn’t stay long enough to observe but can now
add bad scientist to my oeuvre.
