Remember when I said I'd never build dev tools? Yeah, about that... turns out solving your own problems leads to building dev tools. Nudgd started because I was frustrated.

Average SaaS churn: 5-7% monthly for B2C, 0.5-1% monthly for B2B. The difference is massive. Enterprise customers stick around. That's why most successful SaaS companies move upmarket.

Someone just deployed a Nudgd-generated starter to production. They sent me a screenshot. This is why I build things.

JavaScript was created by Brendan Eich in just 10 days in 1995. Despite its rushed creation, it became the most widely-used programming language. Now runs on 98% of websites.

The hardest part of building Nudgd wasn't the code generation. It was making sure the generated code actually works together. Spent a week just testing combinations of tech stacks.

A single database index can speed up queries by 1000x or more. Yet it's one of the most overlooked optimizations. Before adding servers, add indexes.

Woke up to 12 signups for Nudgd overnight. People are actually using this thing I built. Still feels surreal. Thank you to everyone who's given it a shot.

The Rule of 40: SaaS companies should have their growth rate + profit margin equal at least 40%. Growing 30% with 10% margin? Healthy. Growing 50% with -10%? Also good. It's about balance.

Made Nudgd free for the first 100 developers. Want to get feedback before charging. If you're building a SaaS, would love for you to try it.

Git was created by Linus Torvalds in just 2 weeks in 2005 after BitKeeper revoked free use for Linux development. Born from necessity, now used by millions of developers daily.

The first version of Nudgd was terrible. Just copied files. No configuration. No customization. But I shipped it anyway and got feedback. Now it actually generates tailored code.

SaaS companies with annual contracts have 2-3x higher retention than monthly. But monthly is better for growth in early stages. The switch happens around $1M ARR for most companies.

The Netflix outage of 2008 that lasted 3 days was the catalyst for them moving to AWS. Sometimes the best decisions come from failures. They're now one of AWS's biggest customers.

Why I built Nudgd: I kept abandoning side projects because setup was too boring. Auth configuration, database schemas, Stripe webhooks... I'd lose motivation before building anything interesting.

Code review fact: Google found that reviewing 200-400 lines of code at a time is optimal. Beyond that, defect detection drops significantly. Smaller PRs = better quality.

Learned something building Nudgd: most developers use the same 5-6 stacks. Next.js + Postgres/MongoDB + a couple auth options. So I focused on doing those perfectly instead of supporting everything.

The problem with boilerplates: they're never quite what you need. Either too opinionated or too bare. So I built something that generates exactly your stack. Still early but it works.
