Here is the newest tiny portrait I finished yesterday. I had a few big things on my mind over the past couple of days, so it's not the best likeness, but it's done. My goal with these is to practice to get better, not have immediate perfection.

I've been working on this little portrait for 3 days because I've been super busy. This morning I put the finishing touches on it and I'm happy with it. I can definitely tell who it is. Phew! Tiny portraits are getting better!

Art is everyday magic. Don't believe me? Look at a blank wall. Does it make you feel warm and cozy? Absolutely not. Now look at this painting. Imagine it on your wall. Does it give you the feeling of warmth spreading through your room? Yes, it does! Add some magical art to your home.

Making marks on a surface like paper, canvas, resin, rocks, or walls has always seemed like magic to me. The more marks I make, the more the image takes shape. I feel at my absolute happiest when I create art.

It's been a busy couple of days, so I just now finished painting this little 4x6" portrait I started on Wednesday evening's live. Watercolor and pencil on paper. It's the best one I've done yet!

I'll be going live this evening at 5PM AZ MST over on Chaos and Order Art by Susan Holt on FB. I have small portraits to practice and work on. What's better than working with you!?! I'll see you there!

Today I delivered some Patreon art boxes to my local art patrons. I drove all over our metro area. It took me about 4 hours, and I needed a good drive. Friend's dog pic for tax.

I had some trouble with this little 4x6" watercolor portrait last night. This morning I got a better likeness when I moved some shadows and highlights around. I also used my colored pencils to shade this one after my original watercolor shading went terribly off course.

Here is today's little 4x5" watercolor practice portrait.

I'm picking up my watercolor paints and pencils to practice portraiture. I haven't used my watercolors in over a decade, and I haven't focused on portraits unless taking classes. Here's the first one. It's 4x6" on watercolor paper. Experimenting is fun!

I *was* in my studio. Molly came in and gently licked my elbow, which means she needs to go outside. She didn't need a potty or play break, so I went back in my studio. I was coerced, then outright told to go sit on the couch. Then I was told I'm a good girl. "Ooo-woooo!"

I'm going to an event where I need small pieces to trade. I'm going really artsy, but I'll also get to practice my portraiture. Win/win!

Today I tackled the bookshelves in my studio. This is what the bookshelves look like now.

The cleaners were just here, and I got all of my Patreon goodies packed up for my VIP supporters. Molly was under the work table in my studio and helped me pack. Mochi is thinking about inspecting the boxes before they go out. They should go out later this, or early next week.

The studio clean up continues! I keep getting more and more stuff out of my studio that I know I will never use again. My goal is to have all of the items under my work tables onto shelves. This may not be 100% doable this year, but I'm working on it.

Today in studio clean up time, I went through my canvas hoard, organized them by size and materials, and put gesso on 3 that needed them. I also tidied more stuff. I feel like I need to take a really hard look at some other things I'm likely never going to use, that's up next.

Today I was up at the Arizona Artists Guild for my critique group, and saw a way to make more room in the painted rock garden. After, I went ahead and rearranged the rocks. I also left 3 big bubble rocks. This makes me happy. 😁

I have been busy organizing more spaces in my art studio. I have a few more supply shelves to organize, my bookshelves, under the pour painting table, and the work table tops. I also have a couple of other spaces, too. I think it'll happen in that order.

Got to a point in my studio organizing where I had to stop because my brain couldn't think of what to do next. It's time for a hydration break, too. Rearranging things takes a lot of spatial awareness and brain power. It also takes brutal honesty. "Am I likely going to use this?'

Had lunch out with hubby, then cleaned up another couple of spaces in my studio. A painted rock is headed to Tunisia to be cherished and put in a display case of a private collector. It will be my second piece on the African Continent! ❤️
Now to take a hydration break.

The year end studio clean out has begun. Today I tackled a giant bin, a small bin, and the area around my paint storage cart. I also pulled all of the towels and aprons out to wash.

That time a work colleague of your hubby's stops by with some holiday chocolates, and ends up buying 3 small pieces of art!!! Amazing!!!

This beautiful, round painting has been sold as a winter holiday gift. Don't worry, the recipient doesn't follow me on social media, and will be delightfully surprised!

As an artist, even my cat is a study of composition. This is the same cat, at the same time, I just moved the camera from right to left by about 4 inches. In the first photo, her cute little face is behind her leg. (The rest is in the comments.)
