Redoing my recovery week because I did not take it easy enough or eat enough last week and I still feel kind of beat up. I know I'm too old to be taking ego to the gym, but "I can do better" is a hard mental habit to break especially because it serves me well in other settings

It felt to me partially like a response to all the "mysterious lore" stuff that came out in the late 2000s (Lost, etc.). Yeah, you want all the weird esoteric stuff you know and have to be the key that unlocks something huge. But in reality there's only money and power.

I thought this was a gem, and loved it, but I understand why people wouldn't like it. It's a nice addition to the "idiot in LA noir" genre that also includes Inherent Vice and The Big Lebowski.

I thought this was a gem, and loved it, but I understand why people wouldn't like it. It's a nice addition to the "idiot in LA noir" genre that also includes Inherent Vice and The Big Lebowski.

at some point I'd like to read it again because I think I generally understand what's going on but there's a lot of stuff that would be clearer. But it took me month and a half the first time so I need to find time!

a year ago I decided I wanted to stop sucking at guitar and started practicing 3x a week. That grew as I found myself enjoying it more, and almost 200 practices (and about that many hours) later, I'm still not great but I'm competent enough that I'm happy, and I look forward to getting even better!

I have caught a couple contractors at work doing this, even. It's a miserable experience, yeah
And on top of that the LLMs can come up with plausible reasons why my requested changes aren't needed, so their code get pushed through by management and I'm stuck maintaining the slop
